Race Week Packet Pick-Up

Details

Volunteers will distribute bib numbers & goodie bags to race participants.  

PARKING DIRECTIONS
Metered street parking is also available on Lincoln, Western, or Lawrence avenues. Standard rates apply.  Fleet Fleet Lincoln Square is also accessible from the Western Stop on the CTA Brown Line.

ATTIRE
Please dress comfortably, wear comfortable shoes.  You will receive a volunteer t-shirt to wear when checking in. 

CHECK-IN 
When arriving to Packet Pick Up please proceed to the computer stations and ask for Ravenswood/Chicago Running Company staff lead.  Due to tight space, please try to limit the amount of personal items and belongings.  When ready, Race Staff will place you into your volunteer position and train you on the process.

Race Day Packet Pick-Up & Kids Race

Details

Volunteers are needed to distribute bib numbers & t-shirts to race participants.  

Please do not leave your position until you are released. The Packet Pick-Up Manager will dismiss you once you are no longer needed at that station and direct you to the Start Line for the Kid's Race.

As a Kid's Race volunteer, you will help put on our Kid's Race for all kids age 2-10.
     3 years old and under: 20 yard dash
     4-7 year olds: 50 yard dash
     8-10 year olds: 100 yard dash 

Responsibilities will include working the kid's race start line, finish line, and cheering on our young participants during the race!

*Volunteers should be ready to jump in wherever needed!  We thank you in advance for being flexible as we make sure all of our stations are fully covered.

PARKING
Parking in the area will be very limited, and as the streets close for the event, cars will not be able to get near the volunteer check-in area. We recommend public transportation. The event site at Hermitage and Wilson avenues is accessible by a number of CTA bus routes and the Damen stop on the Brown Line. If you are planning to drive, allow enough time to navigate traffic, locate a place to park, walk to the site, and ensure an on time arrival.

WEATHER AND ATTIRE
Wear layers and comfortable clothes.  Hats, Gloves, Jackets, and appropriate shoes are strongly encouraged. You will be asked to wear the volunteer gear you will receive upon check-in as the outer layer.  Please check the weather.

Start Corrals & Signage Removal

You must be 14 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

As a volunteer at the start line you will be assisting our staff with starting the race. The volunteers at this area will be assigned to a corral helping to organize race participants. Each race participant is assigned a corral with their assignment located on their bib. Once the corrals open you will be directing participants into their corral, or helping to keep corrals separate and organized. When the race starts the first corrals will start – other corrals will move closer to the start line. Additional corrals will be released every 2-3 minutes until all corrals have started the race.

Please do not leave your corral position as they are being released. The Start Line Manager will dismiss you once you are no longer needed at that Start Line and direct you to the signage removal process. 

As a sinage removal volunteer, you will be helping take down the no parking signs and any other race information posted along the course as the last runners pass.  Please be prepared to walk the 5K course.

Course Marshals

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

As a Course Marshal volunteer, you will be directing & cheering on race participants. You will be meeting with our course operations team – they will station you at a location on the course where you will be directing & cheering on race participants. Along with keeping race participants safe you will be directing race spectators to keep them off the course.

Finish Line

You must be 14 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

As a volunteer at the finish line you will be passing out water and electrolyte replacement beverages to finishers.

FOR SAFETY: Please stand back, don't crowd the finish line - let the runners come to you!

After the race, assist with clean up by getting rid of leftover product, breaking down boxes, stacking tables, and help organize supplies on a pallet to be easily removed.

Bike Marshals

You must be 14 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

As a bike marshal, you will be leading a corral of race participants through the course. Before the race you will meet with our start line manager for last minute instructions – if time permits you are welcome to do a final course ride.  During the race you will be leading a corral of race participants through the course ensuring everyone stays on course. After riding your corral through to the finish line either ride the course backwards or meet up with the last runners to ensure everyone is staying on course and safe.
